ACO CONTAINER SYSTEMS FAQ

Who is ACO Container Systems?

ACO Container Systems, a division of Rotoplast Inc., is known as one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality, rotationally molded tanks and other rugged polyethylene products in North America. We have more than 40 years of experience in this business and are ISO 9001:2015 certified.

What is rotational molding?

Rotational molding is a molding technique used to produce hollow parts. It is a cost-effective method to produce large, hollow plastic parts because it does not involve the use of pressure in the process. It uses a hollow mold tool where the resins are heated and rotated simultaneously. After the resins are well-distributed and fused on the surface of the mold, the mass is then cooled and the hollow mold is removed. The resulting product is a seamless part with uniform thickness. Products made with rotational molding are known for their strength and durability.

What kind of tanks do you have?

ACO manufactures a complete line of plastic tanks including closed top storage tanksopen-top storage tanksdouble-wall storage tankspallet tankssloped bottom tanksconical bottom tanks, tote barrelsflat bottom tanksmaterial handling containers, and horizontal tanks for use in a wide range of applications.

What chemicals can I store in your tanks?

To identify the chemicals that can be safely stored in tanks, check the compatibility of the chemical with polyethylene in the Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) provided by the chemical supplier. In addition, our tanks can store and transport liquids with specific gravities of less than 2.2.

What materials are used to manufacture your tanks?

All our tanks are manufactured out of high-grade high-density polyethylene (HDPE) or cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE), making our tanks very tough, durable, chemical resistant and dimensionally stable. Our tanks perform better than mild steel, stainless steel, and fiber-reinforced plastics (FRP) for most chemical applications.

What common liquids/chemicals can be stored in tanks?

Our tanks have high resistance to corrosion and chemical attack, allowing them to safely store chlorine, sulfuric acid, sodium hydroxide, hydrochloric acid, and many more. Our tanks are also suitable for holding potable water as our HDPE resin is FDA, RoHS and NSF 61 compliant.

What is the largest capacity available?

The largest tank we produce has a capacity of 16,500 gallons.

What safety precautions are needed while shipping or transporting my tank?

Polyethylene is a high-quality thermoplastic with excellent physical and chemical resistance. With proper handling, tanks made of polyethylene are less likely to be damaged. Our tanks are also designed to resist low temperatures, so they maintain good integrity even when placed in cold areas.

Can plastic tanks be pressurized?

No. Generally, plastic tanks are designed for use at atmospheric pressures.

How does exposure to sunlight affect plastic tanks?

Exposure of plastic tanks to sunlight for extended periods can causes discoloration, stiffening, and eventual cracking. But all our tanks are infuse with UV stabilizers with a UV ratings up to UV-20 that can significantly reduce the harmful effects of UV light, thus extending the service life of the plastic tanks.

How many years do your tanks last?

The life expectancy of a tank depends on the type of material stored, storage location, exposure to UV radiation, and mobility. However, with excellent properties, HDPE or XLPE tanks can last for more than two decades.

Are your tanks leak-resistant?

All our tanks are seamless because they are molded as one piece.

Do your tanks contain Bisphenol A (BPA)?

No. We manufacture tanks made of polyethylene. BPA is mainly used in polycarbonates and epoxies.

Do your tanks come with fittings?

Yes, ACO is specialize in customizing our tank to fulfill every clients need by adding all kind of accessories and fittings such as tank adapters, flanged adapters, welded boss, welded flanges, total bottom drain fittings, graduation indicator, sight tube, vents, ID tags, pipes internal and external, foot valves, ball valves, heat tracing and insulation, hold down assembly, lifting lugs, ladders, engine mount, baffles, etc.

Who do you sell to?

We have clients in Toronto, Ontario; Montreal, Quebec; Calgary, Alberta, and elsewhere throughout Canada and the United States.
